Term 2 Week 2

Dear Families and Community,

What an incredible school holidays it has been! From globe-trotting adventures to mythological quests, our children have been busy exploring, creating, and connecting with the world around them. We are so proud of the energy and enthusiasm every child brought to each day, and we’re excited to share some of the highlights with you.

School Holiday Highlights

Our holidays kicked off with a round-the-world adventure! Children designed their own passports and earned stamps as they journeyed through activity stations inspired by Japan (origami), Italy (mini pizza making), Mexico (maraca making), India (Rangoli art), and Australia (Indigenous dot painting). The big room transformed into a travel agency, which I would definitely recommend for booking your next holiday!

One of our favourite days of the holidays was our Community Day celebrating the local businesses on Australia Street. Children rotated through creative activities inspired by local favourites; designing their own Tokyo Lamington flavour, giving paper plate haircuts (Audrey & Him), planting succulents with Plant Daddy, and imagining their own candle scents inspired by Stacks of Wax. It was a wonderful way to feel connected to our local neighbourhood!

The Colour Run was one of the most anticipated events of the holidays and it did not disappoint! Children ran through a colourful obstacle course while being showered in powder colour. Afterwards, they wound down with rainbow yoga, watercolour paintings, and rainbow runner silhouette art. Vibrant, joyful, and a little messy, just how we like it!

We rounded out the holidays with a trip to Dendy Cinema, always a crowd pleaser! And our final day was a Super Mario extravaganza, complete with a Mario Kart obstacle course, ironing bead characters, Bowser’s Castle challenges, and a Mario Brain Break. The kids absolutely loved it!

We're excited to announce the launch of the Australia Street OSHC website! Families can now access key information online, including our enrolment and booking details, parent handbook, policies, school club sign-ups, and important forms, all in one easy-to-navigate place. All normal communication channels (mobile and email etc.) are still up and running, this is just to compliment the systems already in place.

Looking ahead - Term 2

We are so excited to welcome everyone back for Term 2! We have a wonderful program planned, continuing our commitment to play-based learning, community connection, and creative exploration. Keep an eye out for upcoming themes, excursions, and special events — we can’t wait to share them with you.

A note regarding our director

We wanted to let you know that our Director, Vikki Butler, will be away from 4 May until 18 May. During this time, our wonderful team of supervisors will be stepping up to keep everything running smoothly.

You can continue to approach any member of our team with questions or concerns. We look forward to welcoming Vikki back on 18 May!

Till next time,

Australia Street OSHC
